Discord Bot
The Discord Bot is a panel-wide module like Doctor: one bot for every server on the panel. Link a Discord channel to a server and chat flows both ways - players see Discord messages in game as <name> text, and Discord sees in-game chat posted under each player’s name and head. The same channel can carry joins, leaves, deaths and advancements, server starts and stops, crashes with the crash report attached, and what Doctor did about them. A status board is a message the bot keeps edited with live player counts and TPS.
Setting it up
Section titled “Setting it up”- Create an application at discord.com/developers, open its Bot page, and reset the token. Under Privileged Gateway Intents enable Message Content Intent, without it Discord never hands the bot the text to relay.
- Invite the bot to your server from OAuth2 > URL Generator with the
botandapplications.commandsscopes and the Send Messages, Embed Links, Attach Files, Read Message History and Manage Webhooks permissions. - In DiscoPanel open Modules, click the settings icon on the Discord Bot card, paste the token under Configuration, and save. Setting the guild ID there makes slash commands appear immediately, otherwise Discord takes up to an hour to roll them out globally.
- Flip the Enabled switch. The card turns green once the bot is connected, and the module logs say why if it is not.
Using it
Section titled “Using it”In Discord, run /link in a channel to bind it to a server. Options pick which streams it carries: chat, player events, lifecycle and crash announcements, and the full console (off by default, it is noisy). /unlink removes the binding and /links lists every binding in the guild.
/board create posts a status embed the bot keeps updated, for one server or all of them. /servers, /status, /players and /health answer on demand and /say speaks into the game. /start, /stop, /restart, /cmd, /backups, /prompts and /answer are hidden behind the Manage Server permission, which server admins can hand to other roles under Server Settings > Integrations in Discord.
Good to know
Section titled “Good to know”- Player heads come from mc-heads.net and post through a webhook the bot creates in each linked channel. Turn Player heads off in the module settings to post plain messages instead, or if the bot cannot manage webhooks.
- Turn Presence off to stop the bot showing the online player count as its Discord status.
- Nothing is pinged by relayed text,
@everyonetyped in game stays plain. - Bindings live in the module’s own data directory, so they survive panel and bot restarts.
